Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how CompanionCall collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information. It is maintained by CompanionCall to answer common privacy questions about our service.
Introduction & Scope
CompanionCall ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy applies to all personal information collected through our website and telephone services, and is designed to meet the standards of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.
By using CompanionCall, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our services.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information to provide and improve our companionship calling service:
- Phone numbers: We collect your phone number to verify your identity and to facilitate secure voice connections between you and our companions. Your number is never shared with companions; calls are bridged through our secure telephony infrastructure.
- Basic profile registry data: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and phone verification status. This allows us to maintain your account, manage favourites, and provide a personalized experience.
- Call metadata: We store a record of your calls, including the time, duration, companion you connected with, and any rating or feedback you choose to leave.
- Usage information: We collect general analytics about how you interact with our website to help us improve performance and user experience.
How we use your phone number
Your phone number is collected solely for the purpose of facilitating secure voice connections. Before your first call, we verify your number with a one-time 6-digit code. Codes are short-lived, rate-limited, and stored only as a hash — never in plain text.
During a call, our system dials you and the companion separately and bridges the two legs. Your real phone number is never displayed to the companion, and the companion's number is never displayed to you.
We do not use your phone number for marketing purposes, and we do not sell or rent your phone number to any third party.
Call recording for quality assurance
All telephone calls conducted through CompanionCall are recorded strictly for quality assurance and training purposes. This practice helps us ensure that companions maintain the high standard of care and professionalism our members expect.
You are informed that calls are recorded before a call begins. Recordings are stored securely and access is limited to authorized CompanionCall staff and trainers. We do not share call recordings with third parties.
Recordings are retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil their quality assurance and training purpose, after which they are securely deleted in accordance with our retention schedule.
Data storage and security
We store your personal information using industry-standard security measures. Database access is protected with row-level security so members cannot read or modify other people's profiles, call history, or verification records. Sensitive call details (recordings and telephony identifiers) can only be written by our secure server.
We do not sell your personal data. Access to your information is limited to those who need it to provide, operate, or improve our services.
Retention and deletion
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by law. When your information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by contacting us. We will process your request in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy legislation.
Your rights and contact
Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. You also have the right to withdraw consent to our collection and use of your information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
For privacy questions, data access requests, corrections, or deletion requests, please contact us at privacy@companioncall.ca. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.
